The Commercial Officer will support the Commercial Manager in the successful implementation of the Commercial Team’s strategic plan. This plan includes ambitious income targets from corporate sponsors, keeping a focus on delivering partnership rights and benefits to an excellent standard, as well as a flexible and entrepreneurial approach to developing new income streams and opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Support the Commercial Manager in managing all aspects of ParalympicsGB’s corporate partnerships to ensure they deliver value over the entire life of the partnership. This includes; arranging and contributing at partner meetings including strategy and planning meetings, ensuring contractual commitments are delivered on time and to budget, managing the sign off process for partner materials and contributing to the planning and delivery of partner workshops and events.
* Proactively working to understand the objectives and priorities for each Partnership, actively listening to their challenges and ideas in order to provide an excellent level of service for each Partner, and build strong and trusting relationships both internally and externally to underpin smooth delivery of all partnership rights and benefits.
* In agreement with the Commercial Manager, take responsibility for the delivery of certain corporate partnership activities including:
* End to end management of athlete appearances, including sourcing available athletes, briefing, travel logistics, on-the-day attendance, keeping contact information up to date (CRM) and processing invoices.
* Working with sports clubs or coaches to arrange sport taster sessions for Partner employees, liaising with venues and facilities on all requirements, on-the-day attendance, branding, and management of payments post event.
* Ensuring that partners are kept up to date with ParalympicsGB matters through sharing newsletters or event invitations / managing RSVPs and replies as needed.
* Acting as a supporting point of contact for delivery agencies on partner activations through ParalympicsGB’s and Team GB’s Get Set schools programme – including Aldi’s Get Set to Eat Fresh and British Gas’s Get Set for Positive Energy activities.
* Working internally with Communications team colleagues to support with the production of co-branded social media content or other partner initiatives as required.
* Working internally with Social Impact team colleagues to support delivery of sponsorship rights through ParalympicsGB’s Every Body Moves powered by Toyota programme, which may include aspects of campaign calendar planning, content production, securing Partner sign off for regular newsletter and website content, and collating results for reporting requirements.
* Support events and engagements such as Beyond the Podium (D&I) panels, 121 athlete mentoring meetings, and Partner Day hosted events. This may involve duties such as creating and sending invitations, managing guest lists and RSVPs, booking and briefing athletes (or other speakers), supporting branding production and building presentation decks.
* Support the Commercial Manager and wider Commercial team objectives, including new business prospecting and philanthropic or other income generation, which could include:
* Providing insights from fundraising campaigns, partner activation, employee engagement activities to create case studies and partnership analytics.
* Desk research on diversity and inclusion best practise, accessibility and inclusion programmes, or sport sponsorship landscape research.
* Working alongside the Communications team to ensure efficient working processes that support public research consultations (and where they impact commercial partners), digital activations and athlete engagement.
* Producing high quality presentation (PowerPoint) slides to share information.
* Hosting and networking with partnership prospects at events
* Maintaining and updating commercial records on Salesforce CRM system, and feeding into the CRM Manager for any platform development on behalf of the commercial team.
* Support the Commercial Manager from time to time in the area of the protection of ParalympicsGB’s brands including:
* Developing a working understanding to advise Partners on areas such as, ParalympicsGB’s brand guidelines, the International Paralympic Committee guidelines for Games period, use of trademarks / intellectual property law relevant to ParalympicsGB activities.
* Support the induction of seconded legal support, acting as a key point of contact for them as they join the UK-based ParalympicsGB team for the duration of any ParalympicsGB Games period.
* Supporting in the development of relevant communications materials for ParalympicsGB Partners and non-Partners.
* Due to the event-delivery nature of the organisation you may be asked to support wider activities of ParalympicsGB, for example, during the Games time.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS
· A degree or similar-level qualification, or equivalent working experience
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
·Due to its engagement with the ParalympicsGB teams and members of the public, an assessment process may be undertaken to determine whether or not the post-holder requires a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) List check
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
·Proven experience of delivering relevant activities such as athlete (or other talent) appearances, marketing activity, branded events or social media content
·Track record in client management within a rights-holder or agency environment
·Proven experience of quickly building relationships with individual stakeholders
·Knowledge of how partnerships work to deliver brand objectives, employee engagement, and social or community impact
·Excellent understanding of the commercial (sports) marketplace in the UK and ability to build a compelling offer to existing or potential clients
·Strong and effective communication and presentation skills, including ability to produce high quality PowerPoint slides
·Excellent interpersonal skills to work with successful project teams
·Well-developed time management skills
·Passion for sport
·Passion for promoting equal opportunities for disabled people
·Experience of managing budgets
