Lawyer: (12-month fixed term, Human Rights/Public Law Charity)
Salary: £47,776 per annum
Civitas Recruitment are delighted to be working with a respected legal organisation championing fairness and accountability. We are seeking a capable and motivated solicitor to join their team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to strategic public law litigation with real social impact. The role can be worked remotely within England under the flexible working scheme.
Role Overview
The postholder will support a highly regarded casework team in advancing public law challenges that protect rights and hold government to account. The role offers the chance to work on significant cases while collaborating with colleagues in research, policy, and training. Supervision will be provided by the Legal Director, within a supportive and inclusive team environment.
Key Duties
* Manage a strategic public law caseload, including judicial review.
* Provide legal advice and representation to individuals and organisations.
* Undertake litigation and legal research, ensuring compliance with professional requirements.
* Contribute to policy, training, and cross-departmental initiatives.
* Supervise junior caseworkers where appropriate.
Candidate Requirements
* Qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive (England & Wales).
* Experience in public law and conducting judicial review litigation.
* Strong legal research and communication skills.
* Commitment to equality, fairness, and access to justice.
* Ability to manage competing priorities with resilience and professionalism.
Terms
* Contract: 12 months, fixed term (parental leave cover)
* Location: Central London, with hybrid working (3 office days per week during probation)
* Hours: Full-time (35 hrs) or part-time (min. 28 hrs)
* Pension: 10% after one year (statutory minimum during first year)
* Annual leave: 25 days + bank holidays
