Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Caretaker to work with a Local Authority based in Lancashire. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week (Mon – Fri).
The role sits within the Authority’s Housing Services team and involves working on void properties. The incoming Caretaker will ensure that homes are clean, safe, and ready for new tenants.
This is a mobile role, requiring travel between various sites, so a full driving licence is essential.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough cleaning of void properties, including kitchens, bathrooms, and communal areas
* Carry out basic maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, replacing fixtures and fittings, and securing properties
* Report any significant damage, repairs, or health and safety concerns to the relevant teams promptly
* Ensure properties are secure by locking windows, doors, and reporting any breaches
* Remove unwanted items, waste, and fly-tipping materials from void and communal areas
* Undertake meter readings and report on property condition
* Assist with property inspections, viewings, and key management
* Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
Essential Criteria:
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites
* Previous experience in caretaking, cleaning, or property maintenance roles, ideally within a Local Authority/Social Housing environment
* Good knowledge of health and safety regulations, especially in housing environments
* Ability to use basic tools and equipment for minor repairs and maintenance
* Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high standards
* Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow schedules
* Able to carry out manual tasks (lifting, moving furniture, etc.)
