A well-established secondary school in Rochdale is seeking an experienced Pastoral Support Officer to join their dedicated team. This is a vital role for someone who can remain calm under pressure and build positive, professional relationships with students—especially those who present challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide day-to-day pastoral support for students with a range of behavioural and emotional needs
* Manage and respond to on-call situations across the school
* Supervise and support students in isolation and provision units
* Implement behaviour strategies and restorative approaches
* Work closely with the pastoral and safeguarding teams to ensure a safe and supportive environment
* Record and report behaviour incidents in line with school policies
* Build trust and rapport with students to help them re-engage with learning
What We’re Looking For:
* Previous experience in a similar pastoral or behaviour support role within a school is essential
* Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
* Ability to stay calm, assertive, and professional in challenging situations
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
