Learning Support Assistant
Location: Malton, North Yorkshire
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £85 - £110 per day
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Learning Support Assistant to work a Client Secondary School in Malton, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible.
Learning Support Assistant Responsibilities:
* Supporting students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, learning difficulties, speech, language, and communication needs and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
* Work closely with teachers to support the learning and development of students with SEN.
* Provide 1:1 and small group support, focusing on individual learning goals and progress.
* Provide emotional and social support to students, helping them to build confidence and resilience in a higher education setting.
* Assist in delivering tailored interventions and classroom activities.
* Support students’ personal care needs when required, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
Learning Support Assistant Requirements:
* Relevant qualifications in Education, Teaching and Learning, Psychology, Social work, or a related field is essential.
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable
* A solid understanding of various SEN conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
* Knowledge of strategies to support SEN learners
* Be compassionate, caring, and have a genuine desire to help overcome students’ barriers.
* Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
