Head of Engineering Brokerage (f/m/d)

At Upvest, we're on a mission to make investing as easy as spending money. We are building the first European Investment API that empowers businesses to offer seamless investment experiences to their users.
What You'll Do
* Assume ownership of business-critical components within the Investment API, influencing its roadmap and delivering strategic impact to establish Upvest as a reliable partner.
* Engage with internal and client stakeholders, including Product Engineering Teams, the Product Department, and the Operations Department, to ensure superior product and build quality, and to shape priorities, scopes, and staging of new products.
* Develop expertise in the Brokerage domain, acquiring a profound understanding of client use cases and needs.
* Collaborate closely with Product Engineering Teams to enable their autonomy while simultaneously enhancing efficiency through a broader perspective and cross-team coordination.
* Mentor and foster the growth of future Engineering leaders, leaving a lasting imprint on the organisation.
* Collaborate as a member of the Engineering Leadership team, contributing to various department-wide and organization-wide initiatives.
What You Bring
* Ability to bridge strategic "why" with engineering solutions, actively discussing tradeoffs and proactively suggesting ideas, demonstrating a strong product engineering mindset.
* Strong interest in Upvest's product domains and a proactive desire to understand the business use cases Upvest enables for clients.
* Experience in leading and growing larger engineering teams in a technical leadership capacity.
* Prior experience within the Fintech domain.
* Strong technical expertise and hands‑on experience in developing highly scalable, distributed, asynchronous, and resilient applications.
* Strong work ethic and principles such as pragmatism.
* A security-focused mindset and high sense of taking ownership.
* Eagerness to continuously learn and explore new technologies.
* Excitement to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.
Your Plus Would Be
* Experience working in the Brokerage domain
* Experience with API-first applications
* Experience building microservice-based event driven distributed applications
