Role Overview
As a Senior Process/Project Engineer (Pre-Sales & Execution) within a leading engineering and equipment organisation, you will report to the Head of Process Engineering. The role is responsible for developing process designs, preparing technical and commercial proposals, and supporting the delivery of projects from detailed design through to commissioning. You will manage smaller projects independently and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers as required.
Responsibilities
* Support the sales team with client visits and technical presentations.
* Translate customer requirements into robust technical solutions.
* Carry out process, equipment and piping sizing.
* Develop enquiry‑stage P&IDs.
* Define key assumptions, execution strategies and scope boundaries.
* Prepare cost estimates for equipment and component supply.
* Review enquiry documentation with cross‑functional teams and obtain clarifications where required.
* Support multiple functions in preparing their scope definitions and cost estimates.
* Consolidate costs into an overall project cost calculation.
* Consolidate plans and develop the overall execution strategy and timeline.
* Prepare technical and commercial proposals in line with defined scopes of supply.
* Maintain proposal documentation in accordance with company procedures, policies and compliance requirements.

* Accuracy of designs and cost estimates.
* Accuracy and clarity of defined scope.
* Effective management of scope gaps.
* On‑time delivery of proposals.
* Ability to manage multiple proposals concurrently.
* Efficient design re‑use and fast turnaround.
Key Duties – Execution
* Assist with change control and management of scope variations.
* Support the Project Manager with client meetings and presentations.
* Produce and review P&IDs, equipment lists, datasheets, and process and functional descriptions.
* Prepare requests for quotation for sub‑suppliers and manage technical clarifications.
* Perform supplier bid evaluations and make vendor recommendations to the Project Manager and Supply Chain Manager.
* Review design documentation with internal functions and sub‑suppliers, resolving technical queries as required.
* Participate in commissioning, product trials, cleaning tests and initial production support.
* Maintain project documentation in line with company procedures and ensure compliance with design and QHSE standards.

* Effective management of scope, change and gaps.
* On‑time delivery of design deliverables.
* Ability to manage multiple contracts in parallel.
Minimum 5 Years’ Experience In
* Leading and managing process and equipment bids and proposals.
* Client‑facing presentations and design‑to‑cost justification.
* Engineering and equipment supply for hygienic process industries (food, dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical, home and personal care – Essential).
Capabilities
* Independently develop process designs (P&IDs, mass and energy balances) from concept stage.
* Independently and accurately size process equipment and piping.
* Assess technical risks and ensure compliance with QHSE requirements.
* Manage small projects, including scope, change, cost, schedule and quality.
* Lead and coordinate small teams of engineers and contractors.
* Support and mentor less experienced engineers.
* Demonstrate in‑depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, formulations (liquids and solids), technologies and equipment suppliers within food, dairy, beverage or home and personal care sectors.
* Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
Travel
This role requires international travel, typically 2–3 trips per year.
