Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Neptune
At Neptune, our technology underpins everything we do—from seamless operations in our warehouses to delivering exceptional digital experiences for our customers. We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to keep that technology running smoothly, securely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of on‑premise and cloud infrastructure.
* Ensuring all systems are secure, patched, resilient and proactively monitored; leading on IT security, reviewing reports and responding to incidents swiftly and effectively.
* Contributing to Neptune’s business continuity, disaster recovery and backup strategies.
* Providing subject‑matter expertise on infrastructure improvements, lifecycle management and capacity planning.
* Keeping clear, up‑to‑date documentation and procedures that support operational excellence.
* Partnering with teams across Technology and the wider business to deliver infrastructure projects and support transformation initiatives.
* Staying ahead of emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in a senior infrastructure or systems engineering role.
* Technical competency across several of the following areas:
o Microsoft Server Operating Systems
o M365 Ecosystem
o Microsoft Azure
o MS SQL
o Firewalls, Routing & Switching
o SD‑WAN
o Microsoft Intune / Autopilot
o MDR systems (e.g., Arctic Wolf, CrowdStrike)
o IT Security Principles
o DNS and Monitoring Solutions
* Sector experience in Retail, Manufacturing, Warehouse Distribution or Digital Marketing is an advantage.
* An approachable, confident and collaborative nature – a natural problem solver who thrives under pressure.
* Highly organised and structured, remaining calm when managing competing priorities.
* A clear communicator able to build trust and influence across both technical and non‑technical teams.
* Genuine enthusiasm for technology and continuous improvement – always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to work.

Location & Working Arrangements
This role is based at our offices in Swindon, Wiltshire, with the option for part‑time home remote working. A willingness to travel, as well as occasional work evenings, weekends or on‑call shifts as part of a rotational schedule, is required.
