About the role

Do you have the resilience to support pupils facing emotional barriers to learning?
Can you build trust with young people who need stability and consistency the most?
Are you looking for a role where your support can genuinely change a student’s school experience?

SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-Time | Bristol

We are working with a Bristol school seeking a dedicated and confident SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students who require additional emotional, social and behavioural guidance. This role involves working closely with pastoral staff to ensure vulnerable learners feel understood, supported and able to engage positively with their education.

You’ll be providing a combination of 1:1 and small-group support, helping students regulate emotions, manage behaviour, and develop positive relationships in school. If you’re passionate about inclusion and committed to breaking down barriers for young people, this is a role where your presence will truly matter.

The ideal candidate will:

1. Bring a calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour support

2. Have experience supporting young people with SEMH or additional behavioural needs

3. Be confident implementing strategies that promote emotional regulation

4. Build strong relationships through empathy, active listening and clear boundaries

5. Work effectively with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies

6. Be organised, proactive and able to adapt support materials to individual needs

Role Requirements:

7. Full-time availability during term-time

8. Experience in a school, youth work, alternative provision or similar environment

9. Willingness to support students 1:1 and in small groups

10. Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour expectations within schools

11. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

12. Right to work in the UK

Why Apply:

13. Competitive daily pay, paid weekly

14. Access to high-quality CPD including SEMH, behaviour management and de-escalation training

15. Support from a dedicated consultant who understands your experience and goals

16. Opportunity to explore long-term roles or temp-to-perm pathways

17. A chance to make a lasting difference to learners who need stability and connection

If you have the passion, patience and determination to support students through their most challenging moments, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today and help shape a brighter future for a young person who needs it.
