Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in AI and Marketing Analytics
The University of Bristol Business School is inviting applications for an outstanding Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in AI and Marketing Analytics on a full-time, open-ended basis.
We invite applications from candidates with a strong background in marketing and solid technical literacy in artificial intelligence-including but not limited to machine learning, generative AI, natural language processing, computer vision, algorithmic decision-making, human–machine interaction, and ethical AI. Candidates shoulddemonstratean interest in the applications,opportunitiesand societal implications of these technologies for marketing,consumersand business.
We are particularly interested in scholars who explore how AI is reshaping markets, consumerexperiencesand marketing practice, and who can connect technical developments in AI with rigorous, problem-oriented social science research.
The successful candidate will join the Marketing and Consumption Group, which is distinctive in approaching marketing as both a core business function and a vibrant academic field key to understanding a rapidly changing world. Staff in the grouppossessa wide range ofexpertiseencompassing diverse methodological and disciplinary traditions as well as researcher and practitioner backgrounds. Research, teaching and engagement priorities are organised around digital marketing and consumption and the nexus of marketing,consumptionand society.
The Business School sits at the heart of several major University investments, including the Bristol Digital Futures Institute (BDFI, £29m from Research England), the ESRC-funded Centre forSociodigitalFutures (£10m), and the forthcoming move tostate-of-the-artfacilities at Temple Quarter. The successful candidate will be positioned to draw on these resources and partnerships from day one.
We expect the candidate to provide inspiring and innovative teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to contribute to the development of new AI-focused programmes. Openness to working with colleagues from other disciplines is essential.
What will you be doing?
This is a research and teaching post in Marketing. We wish to appoint a research active colleague on academic pathway 1 who can provide leadership in their particular field.

We are looking for someone who is
* Consistently pursuing high quality research in AI in marketing and management fields.
* Demonstrating high quality academic publications in the broad area of AI and marketing analytics, reflected in published, forthcoming and planned work.
* Contributing to the development of research impact and engagement with non-academic audiences.
* Applying for external research funds from research councils, government, industry and/or other sources.
* Teaching and marking at all levels, including executive education.
* Overseeing the successful design, development and enhancement or review of existing and/or new teaching provision in the school.
* Supervising MSc dissertations and PhD theses in leading capacity.
* Acting as personal tutor to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students.
* Mentoring members of the academic group or School on teaching and/or research.
* Providing leadership within the School or University through work on teams, groups and committees.
