The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.
Aspiring Futures service delivers the Council’s statutory duty to encourage, enable and assist young people to participate in education or training. Tracking young people’s participation is a key element of these duties and we are required to collect information about young people so that those who are not participating, or are ‘Not in Employment, Education or Training’ (NEET), can be identified and given support to re-engage. Delivery as part of the Employment and Skills Strategy is key to the success of the service when Raising Participation in Learning for young people.
