Job overview Join Our Haematology & Blood Transfusion Team We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our highly skilled Haematology and Blood Transfusion Department. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise within a forward‑thinking, well‑equipped laboratory that supports both the RUH and surrounding private and community hospitals. About our department Our laboratory is fully modernised and equipped with a wide range of high‑quality analysers, including: Haematology: 5 × Beckman Coulter DxH FBC analysers 2 × ACL Top750 coagulation analys Immunology: Dynex DS2 Quantalyser 240 EUROBlotOne Blood Transfusion: Immucor automation, including NEO Iris and Echo Lumena systems Haemonetics BloodTrack system for full vein‑to‑vein electronic tracking Electronic issue as the primary red cell issue method We also operate QPulse v6.2 for quality management, and the department is fully UKAS accredited to ISO15189, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining the highest standards. To use and maintain the integrity of the laboratory computer systems and their databases for data entry of requests, recording and reporting all results, compiling reports and other documents, and for communication (email). Ensure that all analyses are performed to the highest standard using approved methods and Quality Control system. Carry out maintenance of analytical equipment according laboratory and supplier protocol, including recording of procedures carried out. Use specialist knowledge to perform analytical techniques in each section of the department, recording and interpreting complex array of Quality Control data according to departmental policy; to use specialist knowledge to interpret this array of data in order to identify changes in system performance and take corrective action when appropriate. To combine specialist knowledge and the quality control data to decide when abnormal results need to be reviewed and to authorise and release results and to report by telephone when required by designated action limits.
