Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – PRU, Croydon

Are you a calm, patient and resilient individual with a passion for supporting young people who need a fresh start? We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Croydon area, working with students who display challenging behaviour or have been excluded from mainstream education.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Use positive behaviour management strategies to help pupils regulate emotions and re-engage in learning.
Support teaching staff in delivering personalised learning plans and targeted interventions.
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence, respect and progress.
Contribute to creating a safe, structured and nurturing environment where all students feel valued.Requirements:
Previous experience working in a PRU, SEMH or behavioural setting (essential).
Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
Empathetic, proactive and able to remain calm under pressure.
Team player with good communication and relationship-building skills.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).Benefits:
