Job summary

We are looking for a proactive and organised individual to join our dedicated Cardiac Physiology team as a Cardiology Storekeeper. This vital role supports our invasive cardiac services by managing the flow of specialist medical supplies for the catheter labs. You will be part of a friendly, high-performing team within the UK's leading cardiothoracic hospital, ensuring safe, timely and cost-effective supply of critical stock and consumables. With a strong focus on quality, efficiency and sustainability, this position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to excellent patient care while developing your expertise in NHS logistics within a unique clinical environment.

As Cardiology Storekeeper, you will manage and maintain medical stock used across our catheter labs, from routine consumables to highly specialised equipment. You'll handle electronic and manual stock ordering, barcoding, receipting, replenishment, and assist with logistics and returns. You'll use handheld PDAs and stock systems, help troubleshoot delivery issues, and ensure compliance with safety and infection control standards. Strong organisational and communication skills are essential, along with experience in healthcare logistics or supply chain. The role involves regular manual handling, including the movement, unpacking, and storage of a broad range of medical supplies and equipment that vary in size, shape, and weight. As such, a good level of physical fitness and a sound understanding of safe handling techniques are essential.

Qualifications

Supply Chain / Logistics NVQ qualifications


Experience

Supporting the implementation of new products and change within the unit.

Experience of working in healthcare setting such as theatres, cath lab or surgical environments.

Good working knowledge of software packages including Microsoft Office & Excel

Motivated, Innovative, receptive to change

Flexible use of own initiative / problem solve & ability to work unsupervised

Promote Customer Service and an ability communicate at all levels,

Able to multitask, work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Organisation, interpersonal and analytical skills

Ability to collaborate with senior staff

Ability to work in a team, adapt and be flexible

Ability to work independently

Previous NHS experience

Basic knowledge of sterile services processes

Logistics and supply chain

NHSSC procurement systems (iproc)

NHSSC product management systems (EDC/EDC GOLD), particularly the use of PDA's

Ability to be organised and methodical, as well as self- management and prioritisation skills

Ability to develop systems and processes for improvement and efficiency


Additional Criteria

Evidence ability to uphold the Trust's values Compassion Excellence Collaboration and associated behaviour standard at all times

Ability to work independently.

Regular manual handling, including the movement, unpacking, and storage of a broad range of medical supplies and equipment that vary in size, shape, and weight. As such, a good level of physical fitness and a sound understanding of safe handling techniques are essential.

Ability to work for occasional periods at VDU screen

Ability to undertake shifts in early mornings and/or late into the evening as agreed the service needs require.
