Thales UK seeks a Senior Systems Engineer within Thales OME, with base options in Reading or Glasgow. Depending on the project, travel and time at other Thales sites, customer sites, or integration and test facilities may be required.

This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held; if not, the successful applicant will need to undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance. Eligibility for full SC typically requires residence in the UK for the last 5 years, with some circumstances allowing a minimum of 3 years residence in the last 5 years with additional overseas checks. For details of evidence required for Baseline and Security Clearance please refer to the National Security Vetting Agency (GOV.UK) and Defence Business Services NSV Agency. Thales will request evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, and employment/education history for up to three years as part of Baseline Security requirements. Responsibilities
* Definition of Systems Requirements for the product
* Creation of design documentation capturing the systems engineering design; definition of internal and external interfaces
* Functional definition of system behaviour
* Development of test procedures to support the verification of the system
* Carrying out integration and verification testing against test procedures; gathering evidence that the systems requirements have been achieved
* Peer reviewing technical artefacts
* Supporting the wider engineering team by sharing knowledge
Qualifications and Experience
* Good communicator who is proactive and able to challenge ideas constructively
* Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary design team
* Defining systems interfaces, boundaries and external factors that impact design
* Requirements engineering (elicitation, decomposition and analysis)
* Analysing operational concepts of a system
Beneficial/Preferred Experience
* Experience decomposing a systems design to sub-system level; knowledge of systems modelling techniques
* Experience analysing potential solutions against key design needs
* Experience using design analysis techniques (trade-off analysis, calculations, modelling and simulation)

Location: Reading or Glasgow, with possible travel to customer sites and other Thales facilities as required.
