Job Title: Strategic Procurement Officer
Location: Perth or Glasgow (Hybrid/Flexible Working Available)
Contract Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)
Hours: 40 hours per week, standard 8-hour workdays
Role Overview
We are seeking a Strategic Procurement Officer to lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) initiatives across high-risk supplier categories within the IT and Telco space. This role will focus on supplier governance, contract updates, risk management, and performance reporting while collaborating with Category Managers, IT teams, and wider business stakeholders to drive procurement excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish and manage Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) processes across a specified high-risk supplier category, ensuring alignment with IT and Telco governance standards.
* Update supplier contracts and create risk reports to monitor and evidence progress.
* Develop a central repository for supplier performance reporting in partnership with IT teams.
* Work closely with Category Managers and stakeholders to design and implement supplier segmentation and governance frameworks, ensuring supplier risks are identified and mitigated.
* Support supplier performance management and relationship-building activities.
* Collaborate with the Procurement and Commercial teams to streamline sourcing processes and drive operational efficiencies.
* Provide guidance on compliance with procurement governance and risk frameworks.
Skills & Experience Required
* Broad knowledge of IT markets, business needs, and ideally UK Procurement Legislation.
* Strong understanding of statutory and legal provisions, with proven ability to draft IT contracts incorporating tailored terms and long-term protections.
* Experience using procurement-related systems (e.g., Oracle, Jaggaer Bravo!, Achilles Utility Vendor Database, or similar).
* Ability to engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels, managing expectations effectively.
* Strong grasp of supply chain principles and supplier management.
* Target-focused, results-driven mindset with the ability to deliver change in dynamic environments.
* Confident, independent thinker with strong negotiation skills and the ability to challenge existing norms constructively.
* Excellent communication, numeracy, drafting, and writing skills.
