Dysphagia Speech and Language Therapy Assistant
Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Dysphagia Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (Band 4) to provide assessment and treatment for adults with communication and swallowing difficulties in community settings. The role is 37.5 hours per week, based in Bentilee, covering North Staffordshire and Stoke‑on‑Trent.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct assessment and intervention for adults with acquired dysphagia, using evidence‑based practice.
* Travel to patients’ homes and care homes, building effective relationships with patients, carers, and families.
* Provide person‑centred care and support through various delivery methods.
* Work autonomously under the supervision of a registered Speech and Language Therapist, managing a defined caseload across community and care home settings.
* Deliver, monitor and evaluate care programmes, following clinical guidance and contributing to treatment planning and outcomes.
* Engage in continuous professional development and undertake post‑registration training to enhance clinical practice.
* Collaborate with clinical excellence networks and other development forums.
Qualifications
* Higher apprenticeship level 5 or Foundation Degree in a related subject.
* Completed Care Certificate in all 15 areas within 12 weeks of contract commencement.
* Evidence of or willingness to undertake post‑registration training relevant to the post.
Experience
* Relevant placements or experience with older adults, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience supporting or contributing to assessment and management of individuals with disabilities, including dysphagia.
* Ability to manage time and caseload effectively.
* Experience supporting service users, families, and carers dealing with communication difficulties.
