px Group has operated and maintained the Fellside Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant located in Cumbria, since 2004, and also operates the 0.5 km high-hazard pipeline which is the main fuel supply to the site. The site is an upper tier COMAH installation forming part of the Sellafield COMAH enclave.
The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for an Operator Technician on a 1 year fixed term contract basis. The Operator Technician ensures the safe and environmentally compliant operation of FCHP. To achieve this, the Operator Technician monitors, inspects, controls plant parameters, and makes operational adjustments where necessary.
Key Responsibilities
* As required, to provide start up and shutdown services in respect of plant systems and participate in emergency shutdown of the plant
* To be fully conversant with px safe working procedures and all site operating and emergency procedures, operating instructions and to have a working knowledge of COMAH regulations. To be conversant with site Major Accident Hazards (MAH) and procedures
* As required, performs process analysis maintaining and updating required documents and where appropriate suggesting actions and/or improvements
* Interpret and control plant operations by data that is presented via a Distribution Control System and general plant data
* Following targets and operational decisions made by the Shift Manager, the Operator Technician monitors the operation of the plant, making adjustments to maximise the efficiency of the plant, minimise the cost of operation and ensure environmental compliance
* To provide relevant operational advice and guidance to both other shift members and cross- functional colleague
Minimum Requirements:
* Relevant experience of working in and contributing to a continuous process / production environment.
* Working as part of and contributing to a team.
* Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
* Knowledge and experience of Plant SHE systems & procedures.
* Ability to create and edit Microsoft Word to a good standard.
* To have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
* Ability to use Microsoft Outlook for emails and calendar entries/invites.
