About the Team:

Here at Warwickshire County Council we put children and families at the heart of everything we do. We aim to ensure that Warwickshire’s children, young people, parents and carers receive the right help at the right time. We are doing great work here and we need great people to join us to continue to improve the lives of local children and their families. We are looking to recruit experienced 3 passionate social workers to undertake the role of Peripatetic Social Worker in our Family Connect service.

Family Connect is the point for all referrals where members of the community and professionals refer children and young people living in Warwickshire where they are worried about their safety and welfare. This is an office-based post, although following induction the potential for some work from home, with no face-to-face work with children and families. There is also the requirement to support Children and Family Advisors.

Now is an exciting time to be part of our team as Warwickshire begins to embed our Families First teams who support children and young people in our County. Our approach is about locality working, multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams that support the whole family. Building strong partnerships with local services, Health, Police and Education.

About the Service and Role:

On 3rd of March 2025, we launched Family Connect, formally Warwickshire's Children and Families Front Door, this change is part of Warwickshire's new approach under Families First, which aims to build on the strengths of families and communities, ensuring the right support is given at the right time. Family Connect is designed to support children as early as possible. When concerns are raised, we will prioritise conversations with professionals and families to provide earlier support and ensure they are directed to the right services in a timely way. Family Connect provides information, advice, and guidance to professionals; we implement a telephone referral process alongside Consultations informed through Coaching Conversations with callers who have concerns for the safety and/or wellbeing of children in the Warwickshire area.

Family Connect brings together Children’s Social Care, information and advice and partner agencies into one place to facilitate early, better quality information sharing, analysis and decision-making to safeguard children, young people and families more effectively. The Service comprises of two linked hubs, the Triage Hub and the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) which is a partnership including:


- Warwickshire County Council
- Warwickshire Police
- The National Health Service (NHS)
- Other key partner agencies such as Education, Probation etc.

Child and Family Advisors and Social workers within the Triage Hub manage a caseload alongside responding to incoming calls from professionals, family members, members of the public/anonymous callers. The Triage staff guide callers through a relational conversation to understand the issues and ensure the next steps reflect the support required.

We’re excited to be recruiting for3 permanent Peripatetic Social Worker to join our vibrant Family Connect Team! While your primary base will be within Family Connect, you’ll have the unique opportunity to work across a variety of service areas throughout Warwickshire—bringing your expertise where it’s needed most and gaining rich, diverse experiences along the way, alongside supporting changing demand.

This may include working within our Family Help Teams who undertake assessments and interventions with children and families, with targeted early support, child in need, child protection and care proceedings.

We are looking for three full-time, experienced Social Workers to join our team in a peripatetic capacity, working flexibly across different locations within Warwickshire to meet Service needs.

As a peripatetic Social Worker, you will:

5. Work across multiple sites and communities, responding to changing priorities and supporting teams where demand is greatest.
6. Collaborate with multi-agency partners and use restorative practice to ensure children are safeguarded and their outcomes improved.
7. Thrive in a fast-paced environment that places competing demands on your time—perfect for someone who enjoys variety and challenge.

Key qualities we’re looking for:

8. A strong ability to make robust and accurate decisions informed by our Spectrum of Support to ensure children and families are safe, with a deep understanding of risk and risk management.
9. Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to engage with families as the first point of contact from children’s services.
10. A calm, approachable manner that instils confidence in those who contact Family Connect.

Key Requirements:

Applicants for the role will need a professional Social Work qualification and Social Work England Registration.
