We are looking for a Dayshift Mechanic to join our busy Engineering Department at one of our City Garages!
This is a permanent role for a fully qualified mechanic with experience. You will be working 5days over 7 dayshift, 37.5 hours per week.
What will you be doing?
* Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all types of vehicles to Lothian & DVSA standards
* Diagnose and rectify all types of faults, mechanical and electrical
* Use diagnostic equipment and software to locate, diagnose and rectify faults on mechanical and electrical components
* Understand the fundamentals of existing and emerging mechanical and electrical designs and systems
* Attending vehicle breakdowns as and when required
* Liaise with the parts department to obtain correct parts
* Ensure health & safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
* Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
* Ensure all paperwork and inspection sheets are completed in a timely manner
* Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses as required
Who are we looking for?
* You must possess a full UK driving licence
* You must be a time served motor vehicle mechanic
* A PCV licence is desirable, however the ability to obtain a PCV licence whilst in our employment is essential
* An aptitude to develop others within the engineering team to improve efficiencies
* Ability to work under pressure and work as part of a team
* A flexible approach to working hours
* Experience of working in the truck or bus industry would be advantageous
