Overview
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. The Army is a major part of the Ministry of Defence with an annual budget of over £10bn and around 12,000 Civil Servants located at over 300 locations supporting 110K regular and reserve soldiers. This post is the manager for the garrison pool, associated buildings and equipment, providing a valuable service to the local community and organising ad hoc events, lessons and activities for service personnel and their families, particularly during school holidays or large deployments. This role is Monday to Friday, 37 net hours per week in alignment with business requirements under the FWH agreement.
Responsibilities
* Operate and maintain the Garrison Swimming pool in accordance with Physical Training directives, swimming policy and Health and Safety guidelines.
* Ensure the swimming pool facility remains accessible for rehabilitation programmes for local service personnel; be prepared to operate regimental swimming lessons supporting unit Physical Training Instructors.
* Maintain regular contact with all Garrison units within the local area and wider geographical units that travel to use the facility. Work with the Garrison Quartermaster Sergeant Instructor (QMSI) to uphold timings and bookings to use the pool to full capacity.
* Regular pool cleaning, water testing and monitoring of water quality.
* Act as Building Custodian for fire and infrastructure responsibilities, liaising with all Garrison units to ascertain operational requirements.
* Be a Point of Contact for the Ambrosden gym when requested by the QMSI.
* Train and manage volunteer lifeguards to maintain and enhance opening hours.

* Salary: £23,583 with an additional £6,831 contribution to the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
