Position: Physical Education Teacher (2026-2027 SY)
Location: Kettle Lake Elementary School
Reports To: Building Principal
Compensation: Per Bargaining Unit Agreement
Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year
Summary of Position:
Teachers are responsible for creating a positive learning climate with a focus on student growth and achievement. They employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet the different learning styles and interests of students.
Essential Functions:

1. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for students
2. Ensure students are engaged in the learning process
3. Create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students
4. Use the district curriculum to develop and guide instruction
5. Develop high-quality lesson plans that meet both group and individual needs of all students including those with special needs
6. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons and learning activities
7. Encourage and monitor the progress of students
8. Observe and evaluate each student’s performance and development
9. Provide appropriate feedback on student work and performance
10. Collaborate with special education staff to provide students with individualized education programs (IEPs), appropriate accommodations, and supplementary needs
11. Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress
12. Administer district and state assessments as required
13. Actively participate in district-provided professional development and implement and implement learned strategies with fidelity
14. Establish appropriate classroom rules and procedures as directed by the building principal
15. Create a caring and structured learning environment by consistently enforcing rules and procedures
Other Duties:
16. Effectively communicate with parents regularly via phone or email
17. Participate and parent meetings, IEPs, and Parent-Teacher Conferences
18. Attend staff, committee, grade-level, and department meetings, and others as assigned by the principal
19. Collaboratively work with colleagues and as part of a team
20. Promote the vision and mission of Caledonia Community Schools positively at all times
21. Duties as assigned by the building principal or director
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust/focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors, although there will be required outdoor activities. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.
