The Ophthalmology Department cares for patients of all ages attending a wide range of ophthalmic clinics. We have Doctor/Nurse led clinics on all sites.
Within this post, you will work in general Ophthalmology clinics and more specialised ophthalmic clinics, including preoperative assessment and supporting the organisation and running of clinics on a day-to-day basis. This provides the opportunity to cover all different aspects of Ophthalmic Care.
You will undergo in-house training specialising in Ophthalmic Nursing care and will be expected to complete the ophthalmic competencies required to work in the department.
Main Duties Include
* Work in support of and under the direction of a registered nurse, providing nursing care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the Registered Nurse (RN).
* Record patient information.
* Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records.
* Perform agreed clinical tasks, clerical duties, and phlebotomy.
* Participate in working flexible hours to meet the needs of the service, including evenings and weekends.
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
