Role Purpose
Accountable for the management and development of accurate “Bills of Materials” maintained within the Enterprise Resource Planning System. Manage the formal Engineering Changes communicated and agreed with the customer and valid
agreed internal changes. Responsible to deploy Continuous Improvement toolsets to enable productivity and product quality improvements to be implemented in support of business and customer requirements both internal and within the supply chain.Accountable for the Translation of Design Data (For example CAD/CATIA) and specifications into clear and concise work instructions for manufacturing products to customer and regulatory authority requirements. Support the Team Leader in discharging the people responsibilities such as the PDR, training/development and the related Workforce Management System responsibilities For new design ensure design philosophies are aligned with manufacturing capabilities and that parts and assemblies are designed to minimise costs and maximise quality.

Responsibilities
14. Responsible for the translation of Design Engineering data and specifications into clear and concise work instructions for manufacturing assemblies or product to customer and regulatory authority requirements.
15. Accountable for the maintenance, development and compilation of detail packages of work and Conditions of Supply for external manufacture with suppliers.
16. Responsible for Continuous Improvement to achieve significant productivity and quality improvements by:Analysing and eliminating waste (seven wastes).Developing and implementing production smoothing methods and Kanban systems.Identifying and implementing methods to reduce set-up and overall cycle times.Effective use of problem solving tools and techniques.Work closely with Design to identify and implement cost reduction initiatives and product quality improvements.
17. Support the MRB and QRQC process by providing engineering instructions relating to rework, scrap, concessions and future prevention of non-conforming products.
18. Responsible for the development and implementation of visible controls, measurement tools and business support systems in order to demonstrate effective management and control of engineering work packages.
19. Liasing with operators, design and regulatory authorities to ensure product integrity and compliance.
20. Responsible for checking and acceptance of new and modified design models and drawings as approved signatories.
21. Responsible for provision of Manufacturing Engineering support to external customers and contractors.
22. Responsible for the creation, maintenance and auditing of Manufacturing Engineering processes.
23. Assisting with product audits, identifying and implementing corrective actions and managing the close out of customer non-conformances.
24. Responsible for the day to day activities of sub-contract and full time Manufacturing Engineers including workload distribution.
25. Responsible for people and Manufacturing Engineering management in the absence of the Team Leader.
26. Responsible for the identification of training and development requirements of Manufacturing Engineering staff through the PM process.
27. Responsible for the management and control of new technical packages introduced to the business both internal and external.
28. Responsible for the compilation and presentation of Manufacturing Engineering input at design reviews, both internal and external and the subsequent Manufacturing Engineering actions identified.
29. Responsible for conducting Vendor assessment of the Manufacturing Engineering capabilities of potential suppliers.
30. Provide support to the project in terms of being the Manufacturing Engineering focal point for customer, supplier and regulatory authorities as appropriate.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
31. Qualified to HNC level or equivalent in a related engineering discipline
32. Have 5 years relevant engineering experience within a Manufacturing Engineering environment
33. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills – interface with customers and suppliers
34. Knowledge of CAD design engineering systems, MRP & MES systems
35. The ability to deploy the Continuous Improvement Toolsets – Seven Wastes etc
36. Awareness of design methodologies and toolsets utilised within our major customers such as Boeing and Airbus
37. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages – Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access
Decision Making Authority
38. Guidance is typically available from established policies or from related procedures. In addition guidance is also available from well defined procedures (what to do, not how to do it).
39. Reviews will typically only occur at the completion of defined projects (or project stages) and therefore will not occur with any degree of fixed regularity.
40. Decisions which affect their own job seldom requires approval. Decisions which impact on a work team or a department will require occasional approval by the Team Leader.
41. Decisions which impact on other projects or functions will require regular approval from the Team Leader. In addition decisions which impact on the customer or suppliers will require occasional approval from the Team Leader.
42. The job holder is likely to responsible for direct reports, indirect reports and contract staff.
43. Will generally be responsible for the leadership of others, for co-ordinating or supervising a team member or team; scheduling hours, checking results, taking actions to ensure quality standards are met and conducting performance assessments on others.
