About the Role
We are looking for a highly organised and motivated Finance Assistant to support our Finance Department with day-to-day business accounting activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, communicating with colleagues and external partners, and contributing to the smooth running of a busy finance function.
You will play a key part in maintaining financial accuracy across the organisation by processing invoices, reconciling accounts, maintaining ledgers, and supporting staff with finance-related queries.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Finance Operations
* Process purchase invoices and expenses
* Carry out credit control duties, including chasing outstanding payments
* Maintain cash book/day book records for income and expenditure
* Update and manage purchase and sales ledgers
* Conduct regular bank reconciliations
* Raise and issue sales invoices
* Liaise with customers, suppliers, and third-party finance providers
* Provide general administrative support as needed
Finance Support & Reporting
* Provide guidance to staff, suppliers and customers on finance processes and queries
* Maintain and update finance procedures and process documentation
* Ensure management information is accurate and available for internal and statutory reporting
* Contribute to the review and improvement of finance policies and procedures
* Identify and report anomalies or issues relating to finance transactions
Experience
* Using computerised finance systems
* Maintaining finance ledgers and ensuring financial controls are followed
* Experience with credit control processes
* Supporting colleagues with finance queries
Knowledge & Skills
* Strong understanding of financial systems (general ledger, sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll, cash book)
* Proficient IT skills, with the ability to learn new systems
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* High level of accuracy and numerical ability
* Team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
