JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assessor for Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is responsible for compiling and maintaining the Valuation Roll (all non-domestic properties in Ayrshire liable for business rates) and the Valuation List (all dwellings in Ayrshire liable for Council Tax).

We are keen to hear from talented surveyors, who are interested in pursuing a career as a rating surveyor within one of the country’s most scenic regions. You should be a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Valuation Faculty) with the ability to survey and value all lands and heritages.
\n

You will be allocated an extremely varied workload, being responsible for the survey and valuation of all relevant lands and heritages for the purposes of the Lands Valuation Acts and the Local Government Finance Act 1992.
\n
You will also be responsible for the discussion and negotiation of appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, preparing cases for presentation to the First-Tier Tribunal and appearing as an expert witness at such hearings.
\n
Applicants should also have excellent communication skills with a positive, professional, and responsible attitude, coupled with the ability to multi-task. You should have the ability to work as part of a team or individually and ensure that strict deadlines are met.

ABOUT US
Who We Are and What We Do
\n
Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board has been established since 1996 and discharges jointly the functions of North, South and East Ayrshire Valuation authorities.
\n
Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is a council in its own right, separate from the three Ayrshire Councils, comprising 16 members, elected councillors from each of the three authorities for which the Board has responsibility.
\n
The Board appoints the Assessor who is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Valuation Roll and Valuation List, these are the base documents which are required for the three Ayrshire Councils to in gather non-domestic rates and council tax.
\n
The three Councils have also appointed the Assessor to be the Electoral Registration Officer, responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Register of Electors which is essential for all Parliamentary and Local Government Elections.

The grade of this post is Level 9 to Level 11 dependent on qualifications and experience.
