Job Description:
The EHS Manager will lead efforts to ensure a safe working environment for all Schreiber partners, customers, visitors, and outside contractors at the assigned location(s). They will be responsible for implementing successful environmental and safety programs in compliance with HSE and local regulations, fostering a 'safety comes first' culture among Schreiber partners. The EHS Manager will collaborate with plant leadership to lead safety and environmental initiatives, oversee all safety and environmental training, and ensure effective learning tools are developed and utilized. They will also measure the success of these training techniques.
Role & Responsibilities:
1. Lead efforts to improve safety and environmental compliance, managing direct reports, leaders, and supporting partners.
2. Oversee the development, maintenance, and improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety written programs.
3. Track and meet deadlines for all safety and environmental programs.
4. Administer safety and environmental training, ensuring proper documentation for both hourly and salaried staff.
5. Lead safety and environmental inspections, including regulatory agency inspections.
6. Collaborate to identify root causes of incidents such as spills, safety incidents, and other EHS issues.
7. Maintain current certifications through ongoing safety and environmental training.
8. Conduct partner safety observations and validate the quality and quantity of observations to improve safety culture.
9. Manage the plant safety budget.
10. Work with HR to resolve workers' compensation cases.
11. Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects as needed.
Key Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant certifications in Occupational Safety, Health, or Environmental fields are acceptable with proven experience.
2. Minimum of 6 years of experience in Occupational Safety, Health, or Environmental Safety within a manufacturing environment.
3. Experience in creating safety programs, conducting plant audits, and reporting findings.
4. Strong organizational, planning, and resilient work ethic.
5. Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
6. Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office, EHS Software).
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. Ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
9. Self-starter with the ability to make decisions and drive change.
10. Willingness to travel up to 10% annually.
