A Vacancy at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. Consultant Psychiatrist – General Adult Inpatient Psychiatry, Whalley (10PA).
This post will attract a Recruitment & Retention Premia. Two substantive, full time Consultant Psychiatrists are sought to join the General Adult Psychiatry team at the Whalley Inpatient Unit, which opened at the end of 2023. The wards will provide inpatient treatment for patients with moderate and severe mental health difficulties. The post holders will carry no responsibility for outpatient work.
Role and responsibilities
* Provide Medical Leadership to the inpatient MDT and work with a Specialty Doctor and Junior Doctors.
* Lead a Multi-disciplinary Team that includes Mental Health Nursing, Pharmacists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and input from Social Workers from the relevant Local Authority.
* Work across two acute wards (12 beds each) and be responsible for half of the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) patients.
* Participate on the Consultant On Call rota with additional remuneration.
Responsibilities and expectations
* The role includes at least 2.5 SPAs for a full-time post, with flexibility to consider enhancements to support wider Trust ambitions.
* Excellent peer support group and opportunities to become a clinical supervisor.
* Support for professional development including a study leave budget of £3,000 over 3 years (or up to £5,000 over 3 years for newly qualified Consultants).
* Relocation package available.
* Remuneration includes £40k premia payable on commencement.
Eligibility and requirements
* Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be on the Specialist register of the GMC or be eligible for entry within 6 months of the interview date.
* It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the start of employment and have or be eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be as per the New Consultant Contract based on experience.
