Job Summary
BPAS is looking for dynamic, skilled doctors who can work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to support our national services. You will hold a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, full GMC registration with a licence to practice, and be passionate and committed to reproductive healthcare.
We have 50 clinics nationwide and are seeking doctors who can provide terminations of pregnancy from 7½ hrs a week to 30 hrs a week. Experience of operating between 13+6 and 24 weeks, or willingness to train to higher gestations within the legal limit, is desired.
Responsibilities
* Carry out termination of pregnancy by the appropriate method to evacuate the products of conception and ensure complete abortion in accordance with BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
* Complete client consultation if needed and complete the statutory documentation.
* Assess and provide advice on the management of clients with medical or other conditions which may affect the abortion process.
* Be present in the operating theatre throughout each procedure and remain on site until all clients have been assessed fit for discharge from recovery or passed to the care of another on‑site doctor.
* Provide support, advice and guidance to nursing staff in the management of unexpected outcomes.
Desired Competencies
* Experience of independent practice for any abortion procedures/work at relevant gestations, or willingness to be trained in‑house.
* Knowledge of termination of pregnancy procedures and the assessment and management of complications.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to be pro‑active and flexible.
* Experience of IUD/implant insertion along with knowledge of sexual health issues.
* Willingness to travel to other locations within the region and/or work flexibly.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, with full General Medical Council registration and licence to practice – please state GMC Pin.
* Experience of independent practice for abortion procedures at relevant gestations.
* Knowledge of pregnancy termination procedures and complication management.
* Experience of IUD/implant insertion and sexual health issues.
* Support for a woman’s right to choose abortion.
* Availability to work at specified locations; specify gestation currently working up to and willingness to train to higher gestations.

Working Conditions
Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Part‑time (7½–30 hrs per week). Salary: £103,020 to £154,020 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time hours) depending on gestational skills and experience. Locations: Nottingham, London (East, Finsbury Park), Merseyside, Doncaster, Leeds.
