What's involved with this role: Temporary Senior Design Engineer Drainage - Engineering & Surveying Reference no: Bradford 5247970 Pay rate: £16.28 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 16:00 This opening assignment is for 1-2 months City: BRADFORD, Yorkshire A Senior Design Engineer Drainage is required to work in the Lead Local Flood Authority Drainage team and to undertake a statutory consultation role as Lead Local Flood Authority for Planning Authority, providing technical advice on surface water drainage for major developments. Provide effective advice and expertise within the Land Drainage team of Development Services to ensure that it makes the maximum contribution to the regeneration and sustainability of the district through effective delivery of projects with particular regard to the effective and proactive implementation of drainage related projects. Assist in the delivery of the Council’s transport programme by developing drainage solutions within projects through various stages of design from feasibility to planning/detailed design and onto construction. Key responsibilities: Consultee to the Local Planning Authority - Policy and Development Management. Progress Lead Local Flood Authority Capital Flood Risk Investment programme. Scheme development, design and procurement. Advise of Flood Risk and Drainage matters on Council-led projects. Monitor and manage large raised reservoirs owned by the Council. Develop, maintain and monitor local flood risk management strategies. Investigate flooding incidents. Enforcement of Land Drainage law against unconsented watercourse works. Member or working to membership of ICE or CIWEM. Must hold a full UK driving licence. Experience & Knowledge: DRMB knowledge and experience. Experience of highway drainage design. Experience of highway drainage procurement. Experience of highway drainage specification. A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience to include Flood Risk Engineering & Assessment, Sustainable Urban Drainage Design and Highway Design. Ability to use Microsoft office applications and experience in using and interpolating AutoCAD drawings and industry standard software packages such as Micro Drainage, Infoworks and Hydro Works. Use of modelling and engineering related packages such as MX and AutoCAD Civil3D and have an understanding of Highways and Pavement design to UK DMRB standards. Skills & Abilities: Strong analytical skills required for gathering, collating and analysing the facts needed to solve problems. Strong communication skills. Capacity to manage workload and carry out a number of specific tasks accurately and at a high standard. Able to carry out the working practices, procedures and basic operations across flood risk engineering and the planning process. Able to oversee or contribute to the management of a budget, keeping costs within agreed levels for own section/team.
