Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our team at Oakham School. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and delicious meals for our students and staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Menu Planning: Develop and plan weekly menus that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of students, including vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-specific options.
* Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring timely service and portion control.
* Food Safety and Hygiene: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, adhering to all food safety regulations and school policies.
* Inventory Management: Monitor and manage kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies, checking deliveries, and minimizing waste.
* Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff and other school departments to ensure smooth operation and coordination.
* Special Events: Assist in the planning and execution of special events, such as school functions, parent-teacher meetings, and holiday celebrations.
* Student Interaction: Engage with students to understand their food preferences and provide a positive dining experience.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
* Culinary degree or relevant certification.
* Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment.
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Hours:
* Full-time position with flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings as required.
