Position: Tendering Specialist

We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Tendering Specialist to join the Grid Connection Service Team. This role offers hybrid working arrangements, based in Birmingham. The successful candidate will support the tendering processes for complex energy infrastructure projects both in the UK and globally.
The responsibilities include managing end-to-end tender processes from initial enquiry to final submission. Each proposal must be technically robust, commercially sound, and aligned with customer expectations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, and Legal is essential to ensure bids are detailed, complex, and reflect the organisation's value proposition.
This role combines commercial acumen, technical understanding, and project coordination in a fast-paced environment. Staying informed about market trends, customer needs, and regulatory developments is vital to contribute to strategic bid decisions and continuous organisational improvement.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Formulate competitive bids, estimates, and quotations considering optimal product mix and technical and commercial considerations. Ensure timely, well-documented tenders with accurate costs.
* Manage technical, financial, and project management aspects of bids, including defining suitable technology, preparing price sheets, cash flow analysis, and quantifying engineering and commissioning hours.
* Provide inputs for editing activities according to quality procedures and bid planning. Manage external services like translations and governmental approvals.
* Archive documentation related to offers and orders, record assumptions and decisions, and report bid status regularly. Analyze tender outcomes.
* Identify risks in bids and contracts, participate in Risk Review processes, and ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place.
* Gather and collate all necessary technical and cost information for proposals.
* Establish and maintain effective customer relationships, understand client needs, and support sales efforts with technical expertise.
* Identify potential vendors, evaluate supplier offers, and collaborate with Supply Chain Management for procurement.
Ideal Background
* Experience in preparing competitive bids, estimates, and quotations.
* Strong technical knowledge of suitable technology and product types.
* Proficiency in reviewing commercial documentation and managing financial aspects.
* Experience in project management, including estimating engineering and commissioning hours.
* Skilled in coordinating bid processes and reporting on tender status and outcomes.
* Competent in risk management and technical proposal development.
* Excellent customer relationship management and technical support skills.
* Experience in supplier evaluation and working with Supply Chain Management.
