We have a great opportunity to join our Arboriculture team as a Groundsman, contributing to Environmental Services by undertaking duties related to Arboriculture, Grounds, and Horticultural Maintenance Operations impacting Streets, Parks, and Greenspaces.
Please Note: Applicants are required to hold their CS30/31 qualification for this role.
Job Activities:
* Undertake duties assigned by the lead arborist, including tree surgery services to high standards.
* Perform Grounds maintenance and horticultural duties across parks, green areas, council properties, cemeteries, schools, and other public areas.
* Assist lead climbers with tree pruning, felling, planting, stump/root removal, and hedge maintenance.
* Use ground-based chainsaws, woodchippers, and other equipment safely and effectively.
* Work with high motivation, maintaining safety and quality standards.
* Drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, conduct daily vehicle checks, and report defects.
* Adhere to all Health & Safety policies to ensure a safe environment for staff and the public.
* Willingness to develop arboricultural knowledge and climbing skills.
Responsibilities:
* Apply Health and Safety practices, ensure the security and proper use of plant and machinery.
* Assist in recycling waste where possible.
* Perform duties responsibly following established safety procedures.
* Report accidents and machinery breakdowns.
* Conduct safety checks on self, team, and equipment.
* Manage mechanical and electrical equipment, including daily checks and defect reporting.
* Secure plant and equipment properly.
* Maintain a clean environment and report concerns.
