We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Band 8a Oncology Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) within our Oncology ANP team. This position is a fixed term or secondment, one-year contract (1 WTE) covering maternity leave.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, ANP with experience in the management of patients undergoing Systematic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) to join our Oncology ANP team. The role involves working alongside other clinical colleagues to facilitate high-quality care within the oncology setting.

The Oncology ANP role is multi-faceted, incorporating the dimensions of expert clinical practice, education, leadership, management, audit and research. The successful candidate will provide specialist ANP nursing services, offering holistic, patient centred and sensitive care for Oncology patients.

Main duties of the job

· Clinical Practice

oThe main aspect of the role is working autonomously in the assessment and management of patients undergoing SACT at our Cancer Centres at GSTT and QMS site.

oUndertake Nurse Lead GI Clinic on Mondays, responsible for reviewing follow up patients undergoing SACT, maintaining excellent standards of nursing care through planning, co-ordinating and delivery of the nurse led clinic.

· Leadership and Education

oLead and provide specialist ANP knowledge to the nursing teams at both Cancer Centres.

oDevelop, contribute and lead upon educational programmes working closely with the Oncology Nurse Consultant, Matron and Head of Nursing for Oncology

oUndertake audits and research to inform best practice, enhance patient outcomes

· Collaboration

oLiaise with all key members of the MDT advising and supporting colleagues

oDevelop, contribute and lead upon educational programmes working closely with the Oncology Nurse Consultant, Matron and Head of Nursing for Oncology

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

· Clinical Practice

oThe main aspect of the role is working autonomously in the assessment and management of patients undergoing SACT at our Cancer Centres at GSTT and QMS site. The expectation is that the ANP will rotate between both Sites to provide clinical support.

oUndertake Nurse Lead GI Clinic on Mondays, responsible for reviewing follow up patients undergoing SACT, maintaining excellent standards of nursing care through planning, co-ordinating and delivery of the nurse led clinic. There may also the opportunity to expand the scope of nurse led clinics

· Leadership and Education

oLead and provide specialist ANP knowledge to the nursing teams at both Cancer Centres.

oDevelop, contribute and lead upon educational programmes working closely with the Oncology Nurse Consultant, Matron and Head of Nursing for Oncology

oUndertake audits and research to inform best practice, enhance patient outcomes and drive forward improvements in patient care delivery.

· Collaboration

oLiaise with all key members of the MDT advising and supporting colleagues

oDevelop, contribute and lead upon educational programmes working closely with the Oncology Nurse Consultant, Matron and Head of Nursing for Oncology

· Expertise:

·Proven track record and experience of managing patients undergoing SACT

Qualifications/Education

4. Bachelors Degree in nursing, health or management related studies.
5. A Masters level qualification/in progress or equivalent experience
6. Be an independent prescriber or working towards according Non-medical prescribing course
7. Advanced Assessment Qualifications
8. Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT)/Oncology Qualification
