This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Health Visiting Community Practice Teacher. You will be responsible for supporting Health Visiting SPHN Students.
A Community Practice Teacher enables a good learning environment for Specialist Community Public Health Nursing students in community settings and is essential to equip the workforce for the future and ensure that all learners have a positive experience.
All students completing SCPHN educational programmes must, under the guidance of practice supervisors and practice assessors, demonstrate achievement of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) (2022) Standards of Proficiency for SCPHN practice. The Community Practice Teachers role is to ensure that this learning is facilitated in practice.

Community Practice Teachers design programmes of learning which are then delivered and assessed within the community. The teaching role is undertaken alongside the management of a caseload of families. The Practice Teacher should demonstrate their commitment to a culture for learning by supporting student SCPHNS to develop and learn whilst embedding the eight principles for an effective learning environment.
Community Practice Teachers need to ensure that they demonstrate their leadership skills whilst ensuring they influence upon quality improvement within the service whilst ensuring up to date evidence based practicedisséminated wider within the service. Community Practice Teachers will support the Clinical Team Leaders to ensure that staff within the service continue to deliver safe and high quality evidence based care.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010, and ongoing upgrades ensure the Trust now has state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity, providing almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.
The job holder is responsible for developing, leading, planning and delivering a range of services for children and their families within a corporate caseload.
Provide a public health based service that contributes to improving the health of children and their families in Walsall through partnership working.
During the absence of the cluster lead or other teams cluster leaders will promote team working at all times and contribute to the management of teams.
Participate in the continued development of the HCP service, to include meetings and close liaison with cluster lead and to work in partnership with other health care professionals within the Trust and other agencies.
Care may be delivered within a variety of settings to include client’s home, GP practice clinic or other settings.
The Practice teacher will work within the clinical placement area and contribute to the training and education of within the service alongside students.
