Role: Head of Conveyancing

A well-established and expanding law firm is seeking an experienced Head of Conveyancing to lead its Residential Property department at a new Romford office. This is a senior opportunity for a conveyancing professional with strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a commercial mindset.
The Role
You will have overall responsibility for the conveyancing department, overseeing the team while continuing to manage a high-quality caseload. The role combines hands-on fee earning, team leadership, financial oversight, and business development, playing a key part in the firm’s growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage the Conveyancing team, including supervision, mentoring, and performance management
* Manage a residential conveyancing caseload from instruction to completion
* Responsibility for departmental costings, billing, and financial performance
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, risk management, and file audits
* Set and monitor KPIs, billing targets, and workflow efficiencies
* Lead on business development, networking, and referral relationship management
* Contribute to pricing strategies, process improvements, and departmental growth
* Maintain excellent client service standards and resolve escalated matters
* Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of team members
* Work closely with senior management on strategic planning and office growth
About You
* Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Residential Conveyancing
* Previous experience in a senior, supervisory, or management role
* Confident handling complex residential property matters independently
* Strong leadership, organisational, and commercial skills
* Proven ability to oversee costings, billing, and team performance
* Client-focused with strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Proactive approach to business development and firm-wide contribution
