Robert Half have patterned with a FTSE-listed organisation within the financial services sector seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a leading This role will focus on designing, developing, and deploying solutions on AWS, with a strong emphasis on data modelling, cloud data pipelines, and large-scale data processing.
Responsibilities:
* Design and implement scalable data solutions using AWS cloud services.
* Build, optimise, and maintain data pipelines using Python, Spark, and AWS native tools.
* Develop and refine data models to support business intelligence, reporting, and advanced analytics.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, product, and business teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.
* Provide technical guidance on data architecture, frameworks, and standards.
* Support integration, testing, and deployment of new data solutions.
* Ensure data solutions meet regulatory and security requirements relevant to financial services.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Data Engineer within large, complex environments (preferably FTSE-listed or enterprise-scale organisations).
* Strong expertise in AWS data engineering stack (Lambda, Glue, Glue Data Catalog, EMR serverless, API Gateway, S3).
* Hands-on experience with data modelling and building data lakehouse/medallion architectures.
* Strong proficiency in Python for developing clean, maintainable, and scalable data pipelines.
* Solid experience with Spark (PySpark) for distributed data processing.
* Familiarity with Aurora Postgres or other relational databases (query performance tuning, schema design).
* Background in financial services or exposure to regulatory/compliance-driven environments.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive, and capable of working independently.
* Knowledge of table formats such as Iceberg.
* Experience with QA/test automation for data solutions.
* Exposure to data governance and observability frameworks.
Contract Details:
* Location: London (2-3 days per week in-office, hybrid working)
* Contract Type: PAYE (paid on a daily rate)
* Duration: Initial 15 months
