Purpose of the Job:
The Roofing Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the roofing division, combining technical expertise with strong leadership and business development capabilities. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality workmanship, compliance with safety standards, and exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will also play a key role in identifying and pursuing growth opportunities to expand the division's client base and service offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities are detailed below, however KSD Support Services Ltd may require additional responsibilities to be absorbed within reason from time to time to meet business demands.
Operation and Team Management
* Act as the primary point of contact for all Roofing Team matters;
* Lead, supervise, and support roofing staff to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency on all jobs;
* Allocate resources effectively and manage workforce planning, especially during holidays or staff absences;
* Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company standards;
* Deliver monthly Toolbox Talks and support wider Health & Safety initiatives;
* Audit completed work for quality assurance and adherence to best practices;
* Ensure all team members follow correct Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and use appropriate PPE.
Business Development and Client Relations
* Build and nurture relationships with clients and subcontractors to foster satisfaction, trust, and repeat business;
* Identify and communicate potential opportunities for additional work or services;
* Provide technical advice and support to the internal Helpdesk as needed;
* Contribute to operations and strategic meetings to support the company’s long-term vision for the Roofing division;
* Assist in preparing tenders, quotations, and project bids;
* Represent the Roofing Team in client meetings, business development discussions, and service expansion initiatives.
Technical Roofing Duties
* Diagnose and resolve roofing issues, particularly those related to water ingress.
* Perform minor and major roof repairs, including gutter and tile replacement, and patch repairs;
* Communicate with clients to explain roofing damage and repair plans;
* Maintain detailed records of work completed, materials used, and time spent on site;
* Ensure all work complies with company safety policies and technical standards;
* Participate in the out-of-hours rota for emergency callouts and urgent repairs;
* Promote and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through quality work and professional conduct.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Essential
* Full Clean UK Driving Licence;
* Solid understanding on the safe use of power and hand tools;
* Have a positive ‘can do’ attitude;
* Be able to priorities all allocated work sensibly and efficiently;
* Be a great team player as well an ability to work on your own initiative;
* Capable of balancing supervisor responsibilities with active technical involvement;
* Experience leading or supervising a roofing team;
* Confident using handheld IT Equipment - Basic understanding of Excel, Outlook and word;
* Excellent timekeeping and communication skills;
* Full industry recognised qualification obtained to NVQ Level 3, or equivalent;
* Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certificate;
* CSCS Card or equivalent;
* IPAF - Mobile Vertical (3a) (3b) Mobile Boom certificate;
* PASMA - Mobile Access Tower for Users desirable certificate;
* First Aid certificate;
* Asbestos Awareness certificate.
Desirable
* Previous experience working within facilities management or building services environment would be beneficial;
* UKPIA / SPA Petrol Retail Contractors Safety Passport card.

Additional Information:
* The role will involve working a 45 hours per week. You must be flexible with working days/hours, working away, early starts, late finishes and some weekend work;
* The role will involve participating in providing an ‘out of hours service’ on a rota basis (1 week in every 6 weeks approx.). This will involve unsocial hours, weekends and public and bank holidays;
* Regular overtime available.
