About the Role
At Hambrook School, no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a welcoming, supportive team dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for pupils with diverse and complex needs.
Whether you’re supporting a classroom activity, encouraging outdoor exploration, or helping a student find their voice, you’ll play a vital role in helping them succeed.
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll:
1. Build meaningful relationships that help pupils feel valued, understood, and motivated.
2. Support learners in and beyond the classroom — from academic tasks to hands-on projects and outdoor learning.
3. Help create lessons that spark curiosity, confidence, and creativity.
4. Empower pupils to achieve their goals and celebrate every success, big or small.
5. Support emotional and physical wellbeing, ensuring each pupil feels safe and supported.
6. Work closely with teachers and colleagues who share your commitment to making a difference.

Who We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone flexible, enthusiastic, and ready to make a difference — inside the classroom and beyond. You’ll be comfortable adapting to different roles and settings, whether you're leading activities, supporting outdoor learning, or helping pupils explore new environments.
7. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
8. A flexible, compassionate approach and a genuine passion for helping young people
9. A willingness to learn, adapt, and grow as part of a collaborative team
Experience working with children or young people with additional needs is welcome — but if you have the right attitude and heart, we’ll provide all the support and training you need to thrive.

Hambrook School is in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. We opened in September 2023 and secured an Ofsted ‘Good’ rating in just 7 short months!
We help pupils excel by providing a structured, nurturing approach, alongside a broad, balanced, engaging and extraordinarily rich curriculum.
All our pupils have a diagnosis of Autism and an EHCP. We have been inundated with requests of places from Sussex and Surrey Local Authorities and therefore need additional staff to impact the lives of more pupils. We are therefore looking for the perfect person to join us for this next stage of our journey.
We offer bespoke personalised care that allows each pupil's needs to be addressed, and their capabilities fully realised. We offer our pupils a flexible, safe and nurturing environment for them to develop and grow.
For over 19 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.
