Planning is usually in place, so you can focus on teaching, guiding pupils through the work and creating a positive, settled atmosphere. You’ll need strong classroom presence, confidence in your subject and the flexibility to adapt to different routines. ECTs often use supply to build experience across year groups, and experienced teachers enjoy using their skills without the extra workload. Either way, every day brings something different. Whilst you work day-to-day supply, you will have a dedicated team of consultants looking for your next long-term role.
