Job Advert – SEMH Support Worker (Primary Education)

Contract: Temporary to Permanent (with the opportunity to begin on an ad-hoc basis)

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you want to make a real difference to children’s lives and help them thrive in school? We are currently looking for a dedicated and empathetic SEMH Support Worker to join a supportive primary school setting, working with pupils who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
The Role:
As an SEMH Support Worker, you will:
* Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support to primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs
* Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs and external agencies
* Support pupils with developing social skills, resilience and confidence
* Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual EHCP outcomes
* Monitor progress and contribute to review meetings and written reports
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs (in education, care, youth work or similar)
* A calm, patient and nurturing approach
* Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
* Resilience, reliability and flexibility
* Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children and helping them succeed
* Training in safeguarding, Team Teach or similar is advantageous but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
