We are partnering with a leading FMCG manufacturer to recruit a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to their management team.
This is a rare opportunity to join a high‑performing site in the Northwest London area, with robust systems already in place and a low incident rate. The foundation is set; we now need a visionary HSE Manager to take the site‑wide safety culture to the next level.
This isn’t a "clipboard and whistle" role. The HSE Manager will be a highly visible individual contributor, acting as a coach and trusted advisor to the Site Leadership Team. Your mission is to move beyond regulatory compliance and embed a proactive, behavioural safety mindset across the entire operation.
Work split
70% Health & Safety: Shifting the focus from enforcement to engagement, coaching leaders to improve decision‑making and risk ownership.
30% Environmental & Sustainability: Driving innovation in energy efficiency, water reduction and food waste segregation in collaboration with Engineering and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development of behavioural safety programmes, focusing on mindset shifts and real‑time coaching interventions on the shop floor.
* Design and deliver a site‑specific HSE strategy that aligns with broader business and sustainability goals.
* Act as the site lead for the Environmental Management System, identifying and implementing projects to reduce utility consumption and improve waste segregation.
* Maintain the site’s competent person status, overseeing audits, ISO standards and fire/security management.
* Work cross‑functionally to ensure safety and sustainability are integrated into the fabric of daily operations.
Qualifications
The successful HSE Manager will ideally hold or be working towards the NEBOSH Diploma level with associated environmental certifications. Experience in a manufacturing, logistics or transportation environment is required. The role may also suit someone seeking to take their first step into HSE leadership and will be offered coaching and support as part of the Site Leadership Team.
Unfortunately, my client is unable to offer sponsorship; candidates must hold full rights to live and work in the UK indefinitely.
