We are seeking a proactive, strategic, and highly organised Business Manager to lead the non-teaching functions of our school, supporting the Director of Finance and Operations and contributing to the school’s ongoing success.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on the day-to-day running of our school, ensuring smooth financial operations, management of the premises and lettings, and compliance with all statutory and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Finance Leadership:
Working alongside the school finance manager to oversee the financial administration and reporting across the school. Assist in budget planning, manage income and expenditure, and ensure compliance with DfE guidance and the Academy Trust Handbook.

Support payroll, voluntary contributions, and school trip finance, and develop systems to streamline parental payments and financial records.

Premises & Facilities Management:
Work with the Premises Manager to ensure the school is safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard. Oversee contracts, capital projects, and the school's asset register, as well as insurance and risk assessments.

Lettings Management:
Take the lead on managing and growing our school lettings provision, maximising income and ensuring excellent customer service. Build relationships with local groups and manage lettings staff and schedules.

Compliance & HR Support:
Support policy management, ensure legal compliance, and maintain accurate administrative records.

Collaborate with the wider leadership team to support HR and safeguarding practices.

Professional Development & Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with staff, governors, and external stakeholders. Engage in continuous professional development and promote a culture of excellence and efficiency across the school.

We’re looking for an individual who:

1. Has experience in finance and operational management (ideally in an educational or public-sector setting)
2. Is confident at making decisions and working independently and proactively
3. Can lead multiple projects and work with staff with confidence and clarity
4. Has excellent communication and customer service skills
5. Is comfortable working with stakeholders across the school community
6. Has advanced IT skills and knowledge of school systems (experience with Bromcom is a plus but not essential)

Why Join Us?

7. Be part of a dynamic, inclusive and supportive team
8. Play a key role in shaping the school's future
9. Have access to continued professional development
10. Competitive salary and generous holiday entitlement (enjoy a 7 week summer holiday plus an extended October half term)
11. A chance to work in a friendly, high-performing school committed to excellence in both education and operations
12. Have the opportunity for progression over the next 12-24 months

The staff refer to themselves as the Challoner Family, and all staff are welcomed, developed and supported in whatever role they have within the school environment.

Closing date for applications: 9am, Friday 1st August 2025
