Rhubarb Managed Venues oversees food and beverage operations at some of the capital's most iconic destinations – including an immersive art experience at Frameless, the world-famous Royal Albert Hall, and the breathtaking Sky Garden with its panoramic city views.
Bovingdon's Catering, our sister company, specialises in bespoke event catering and manages the acclaimed Flotsam and Jetsam cafés, bringing quality food and distinctive hospitality to both standalone venues and prestigious events.
Together, we combine venue management excellence with crafted catering services, creating memorable moments whether guests are enjoying a casual café visit, attending a world-class performance, or celebrating at a landmark London location.
Role Purpose
Head of Retail
Salary: Up to £60,000 (dependent on experience)
Location: Multiple venues across London
About The Role
We're looking for an exceptional Head of Retail to take ownership of our food and beverage operations across multiple London venues. This is a role for someone who leads from the front, drives excellence at every level, and knows how to turn outstanding standards into sustainable profitability.
What You'll Be Doing
As the driving force behind operational excellence and commercial success across our F&B retail outlets, you'll:
Lead with Presence
Conduct weekly site visits across all venues, being visible, approachable, and actively coaching teams to deliver outstanding customer experiences. You won't manage from behind a desk – you'll be where the action is.
Elevate Standards
Carry out comprehensive H&S audits every 3-6 months, ensuring compliance, service quality, and operational processes consistently meet world-class standards.
Drive Profitability
Take ownership of food and beverage cost management, share P&L insights with café managers, and identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve margins across the portfolio.
Build Strong Partnerships
Act as the primary liaison for venue stakeholders, managing KPIs, gathering actionable feedback, and strengthening relationships that support our business objectives.

Experienced in Hospitality Retail
You bring solid experience from hospitality retail environments, ideally with branded coffee café operations. You understand the unique dynamics of high-volume F&B retail and what it takes to deliver consistency across multiple sites.
Operationally Excellent
You have sharp compliance skills and a proven track record of raising standards across service delivery, team training, and health & safety management.
Commercially Astute
You understand the numbers inside out, know how to control costs effectively, and have demonstrable experience driving profitable growth in multi-site F&B operations.
Proactive and Present
You thrive on being visible and accessible. Weekly site visits aren't a chore – they're how you stay connected, solve problems in real-time, and support your teams when it matters most.
Quality-Obsessed
High standards aren't negotiable. You demand excellence in every detail and have the ability to inspire others to share your commitment to quality.
A Strong Communicator
