Quantity Surveyor
Location: Essex
Sector: Commercial Construction
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 (depending on experience) + package
A long-established and highly respected main contractor operating across London and the Home Counties is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their team. With a focus on bespoke, high-end commercial projects – including new builds, major renovations, and sensitive refurbishments – this company takes pride in delivering craftsmanship-led construction with architectural precision.
The Role:
Working closely with the Directors and site teams, the Quantity Surveyor will manage the commercial aspects of multiple projects from procurement through to final account. This role is ideal for a commercially astute individual who is comfortable in a client-facing capacity and has a passion for detail-driven, high-value homes.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare cost plans, budgets, and tender documentation
Procure and manage subcontractor packages
Monitor project costs and financial performance
Handle variations, valuations, and interim payments
Manage final accounts and client reporting
Attend site meetings and liaise closely with architects and designers
Ensure projects remain commercially viable and delivered within budgetRequirements:
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the commercial sector
Experience working on roofing, hospitals, schools, bars or schools projects.
Strong knowledge of JCT contracts
Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills
Comfortable working across multiple live projects
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
