Inventory & Projects Coordinator
Lancashire is the fourth largest local authority in England and covers a huge geographic area and a wide range of communities both urban and rural. This role would be working in the Fleet Services Team where we organise the purchase and hire of different plant machinery & plant equipment for the services within the council, dependant on the needs of the service.
The position is based primarily at the Fleet Services Headquarters and main workshop at Bamber Bridge near Preston, although travel to other sites may be necessary at times.
Key Responsibilities
* Day-to-day management of plant equipment which includes small hand tools and large scale equipment
* Management of the regulatory inspection and testing functions (LOLER, PUWER etc) including for insurance requirements
* Writing specification and leading procurement of the County Councils Plant
* Monitoring, verification and certification of invoices for work or agreed supplies / services
* Budget allocation and monitoring the utilisation & repairs of plant equipment & machinery
* Producing reports on asset utilisation, performance, and cost data to inform strategic management decisions and demonstrate value for money
* Being able to support colleagues in the workshop with technical guidance and organising familiarisation training for any new equipment as well as being able to support with any warranty claims with manufacturers.
* Investigation and resolution of significant technical issues and faults in conjunction with manufacturer and suppliers and identify and implement areas for improvement.
* Collaborating with the individual services, such as highways, to discuss their needs and working out the best solutions needed for the job that needs to be done.
* Liaising with the Fleet Hire team to assess plant equipment needs by assessing correct equipment hire and aiming for a reduction of overall hire through sufficient purchase of owned plant
