Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) – Reports to Head of Technical Development. Salary: £45,000-£55,000. Hours: 40 per week, Monday to Friday. Location: Remote (occasional travel to Bournemouth & Edinburgh).
We are seeking an SDET to help ensure product quality through functional testing and automated solutions, working closely with developers and contributing to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
* Conduct hands‑on functional testing to validate new features.
* Document results clearly and raise issues with clarity and precision.
* Collaborate with developers to identify gaps, edge cases, and opportunities to strengthen quality.
* Champion strong QA practices and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
* Design and implement automation capabilities, including a scalable framework and core regression suite.
* Support performance, integration, and load testing disciplines.
* Build structured acceptance criteria and ensure requirements are well‑defined.
Qualifications
* Strong understanding of test frameworks, ideally Behaviour‑Driven Development (BDD).
* Solid experience with PHP development and automation frameworks such as Playwright or Behat.
* Ability to analyse requirements and collaborate on clear, actionable acceptance criteria.
Desired (but not essential)
* Awareness of UX principles and accessibility.
* Experience with BrowserStack or similar third‑party testing platforms.
* Experience with Symfony PHP framework.
* Familiarity with GIT version control and best practices.
* Background in a fast‑paced Agile environment.
