Ad-hoc Shifts with a Local Authority
Job Purpose
* To support the teaching and learning of pupils under the guidance of the SENCO and teaching staff, both in and outside the classroom. The role involves implementing agreed work programmes and providing specialist support to pupils with additional learning needs, promoting inclusion, independence, and achievement.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
* Assist with personal care programmes including hygiene, first aid, and welfare.
* Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Plans.
* Use specialist skills to support pupils with specific needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, S&L).
* Establish positive relationships and act as a role model.
* Promote inclusion and respond to individual pupil needs.
* Encourage cooperative learning and independence.
* Provide feedback on pupil progress and achievements.
Essential Experience Required
* Experience working with children of relevant age.
* Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs.
Essential Qualification Required
* NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent.
* GCSE English and Maths (Grade A–C) or equivalent.
* First Aid training.
* Welsh language skills.
* British Sign Language (BSL) proficiency.
