About the Role
Evolito is accelerating electric propulsion in aerospace. We are looking for a Materials Engineer to support materials characterisation on our path to airworthiness certification, working across the entire product lifecycle from design to flight.
Responsibilities
* Manage and conduct characterisation of materials
* Perform in‑house testing and outsource to approved test houses
* Provide detailed input to the design team to ensure products meet functionality and manufacturability requirements, advising on new material selection
* Support manufacturing team in developing and continuously improving production processes
* Contribute to failure investigations
* Develop data processing methodologies, tools, and manage the materials database
* Create test procedures for verification of long‑term material integrity
* Work with the supply‑chain team to select and audit suppliers
* Report and present experiment results to the wider team
Required Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in Materials Engineering or related discipline
* Experience in materials characterisation, e.g., mechanical or thermal testing
* Strong background in applying materials engineering to real‑world problems
* Experience in aerospace or automotive industry preferred
* Knowledge of metals, polymers, composites, and adhesives and their manufacturing processes
* Creative problem‑solving and analytical approach
* Comfortable working with customers and suppliers
* Flexible, self‑starter attitude with energy and enthusiasm for fast‑moving environments
* Approachable, friendly communication skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* UK driving licence and ability to travel
Desirable
* Experience certifying materials for aerospace, including special process verification
