About the Role
The post holder will be an option to join the General Physician on-call rota (1 in 16) for non-selected acute take, consisting of post-take ward rounds on the Acute Medical Unit or outlier wards in the morning and then post-take ward rounds in the evening. A formal Job Plan will be agreed within the first three months, reviewed annually.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the General Physician on-call rota (1 in 16).
* Perform post-take ward rounds on AMU/outlier wards.
* Develop and review a personal Job Plan in collaboration with the Clinical Director and Medical Director.
Qualifications – Essential
* GMC Recognised Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent).
* MRCP (UK or Ireland) or equivalent.
* CCT in Respiratory & General Internal Medicine or eligibility for CCT within 6 months of interview date.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Additional degrees (e.g., BSc, MSc, MD, PhD).
Experience – Essential
* Full and independent management of clinical patient workload.
Experience – Desirable
* Level 1 competent in Pleural Ultrasound.
* Sub-specialist interest in NIV, Sleep, ILD, Pleural disease.
Clinical Governance – Essential
* Involvement and understanding of Clinical Governance and Clinical Audit.
Teaching – Essential
* Ability to teach and support learning activities of medical undergraduates, junior medical, nursing, technical and other clinical staff.
Research – Essential
* Experience of collaborative clinical or laboratory research.
Research – Desirable
* Published clinical work in peer-reviewed journals.
Knowledge & Skills – Essential
* Commitment to Continuing Medical Education.
* Awareness of current general medical practices.
* Computer literacy in office applications (word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, database analysis).
* Ability to use internet applications (Web and e‑mail).
Knowledge & Skills – Desirable
* Knowledge of IT-based patient information systems.
Other Requirements
* Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
* UK Registration required.
* Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975: Criminal record check.
* Current COVID-19 vaccination required.
